After and absense of 3 years Miriam is back in Chapel HIll, North Carolina, in a new home and new studio.
Miriam was a member of the first class to graduate with a Certficate in the Botanical Illustration Program at the University of North Carolina, Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill. She is a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and the American Society of Botanical Illustrators.
Her love of nature and gardening is reflected in watercolor, color pencils, scratchboard and acrylics in each of her botanical pieces. The subject many times inspires the technique and the medium she will use on each piece.
Sometimes art is about rediscovery. After almost two decades away from her kiln, she has recently returned to working with enamels on metal, experimenting with new techniques to make interesting compositions.
Miriam's art has recieved many awards and her work has been shown in galleries throughout North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, and Lima, Peru. She has participated in several OCAG Open Studio Tours as well as two Open Studio Tours in Roanoke, Virginia.
Whatever the subject and whatever the technique, above all, her art is about happiness.
