Melanie See was born in 1960, in Ohio. She spent her next 22 years there and then moved to North Carolina to pursue a graduate degree in English Lit at UNC. She decided she didn’t want to teach college English, so she bailed on grad school. She spent the next 30+ years raising a couple of kids, substitute teaching, working retail, and taking drawing classes at the Artscenter to save her sanity.
In 2016 she started painting and realized that she’d been an artist her whole life. She paints landscapes and “dreamscapes”…but thinks perhaps they should be called “lightscapes” because that’s her primary delight. Rendering light with acrylic paint. She joined the OCAG in 2018.
