Dale grew up in South Carolina exploring nature in her Mother's flower gardens and drawing every chance she had. She illustrated two yearbooks and a cookbook among many other things while in Jr. High and High school. In 1989, wanderlust led her to travel across the United States and Canada for a year in a converted 1967 Chevrolet school bus. Her mission was to visit as many state and national parks as possible to experience their unique ecosystems up close. She landed in Chapel Hill, NC in 1994 where her love of nature and gardening inspired her own garden filled with birds, flowers and butterflies. The beauty and colors in her garden inspired her to revive her artistic talents.
In 2005 Dale graduated from the North Carolina Botanical Garden Botanical Illustration program. Since that time she has followed a dream of illustrating the flora and fauna of her home in Orange County, NC. Her volunteer work with the Piedmont Wildlife Center led her to illustrate a monthly column in the Chapel Hill News concerning the plight of native wildlife in the midst of the strong development trend in this quickly growing area of the state. In 2007 Dale was awarded a grant by the Orange County Arts Commission to exhibit her paintings of native wildlife that accompany the column.
In 2008 Dale was selected to be a vendor at the Durham Craft Market in Durham's Central Park. On most Saturday mornings from April through November she can be found selling her paintings and illustrations at the market. For more information about the Durham Craft Market go to durhamcraftmarket.com
