I have been working with clay for over forty years and still get excited unloading my kiln after a glaze firing. Over the years, I have sold my work in galleries, museum gift shops, invitational shows and juried street fairs.
My first experience with clay was handbuilding, however, I was always fascinated watching potters throw. I find it very special to start with a solid block of clay and end up with a functional piece of pottery that can be used in one's daily life or perhaps just admired.
While much of my work is still thrown, I have gone back to exploring more sculptural handbuilt forms. I always look at things in terms of what textural designs they might make on my clay.
I work in my home studio with clay that is fired twice to a final temperature of 2322°F. My work is also food friendly and dishwasher and oven safe.
