I paint small (8"x10" or 5"x7") pictures of things I love - apples, pears, avocados, birds, wildlife. In my work I try to find the balance between water and pigment, what is necessary and what can be left out, detail and suggestion.
I grew up in New York City believing it to be the center of the universe, and that visiting museums and going to art films were the daily fare of life. I have fallen in and out of love with many artists' work; Franz Marc has remained a constant since grade school, Jan Mankes is my latest discovery.
