Artist Statement: My love and concern for our natural environment guide my art. Engaging with and observing nature has remained a constant throughout my life. Now, with a world that is rapidly changing, I feel a need and personal responsibility to create work that celebrates the every day beauty of the world around us. I do this through oil painting, charcoal drawing, and monotype, each of which allows me to express my subject matter in different ways. My highest goal is to inspire viewers to appreciate and protect our natural world.
A former health care professional, Lisa has always been creating. After raising her three children, she became a self-taught artist and a member of the Orange County Artist Guild before moving to Seattle in 2017. There she studied full time at Gage Academy of Art in the KOH Contemporary Atelier, and upon graduation returned to the East Coast for a residency in the Incubator Studio at McGuffey Art Center in Charlottesville, VA. Lisa then moved back to Chapel Hill and continues her classical studies in the Aristedes Atelier. In addition to classical painting, she continues her whimsical art and printmaking.
