Ruth Ananda is a fine artist working in acrylics on canvas. Her semi-abstract textured paintings feature birds.
She grew up in Chapel Hill, NC then earned a double BA in Studio Art and History from the University of Virginia, with a minor in Religion.

Ruth moves paint with a palate knife, then texture is added with Michigan sand, and details by scraping or stippling with a bamboo skewer. Creating multiple layers of opaque, transparent, or revealed color makes each piece unique.
An avid birder Ruth is charmed by woodland birds in the Carolina Piedmont, finding inspiration from sights and sounds just outside her window: the wondrous world of birds.
