Steven Silverleaf was born in 1954 and grew up between New York City, Athens, Greece and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. "My childhood was filled with stories about special places and different times. Myths, allegories and poetry dominated the household on a daily basis."
Steven Silverleaf attended the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee from 1972 through 1977, where he studied painting and drawing. He was active in the local art, poetry ad experimental theater scene in Milwaukee. His artwork has been exhibited in numerous solo and juried shows. His works are included in many private and corporate collections. He has also completed several commissions for public spaces.
Artist Statement
I currently work in a number of styles and directions simultaneously, all having to do with our collective selves situated in the universe. I am a firm believer in connectedness and as I pursue that theme in my work there is not a day goes by when there is not an inner dialog about the words "Noble Purpose" and the fruits of giving back for the blessings I have received as an artist.
