Shelly Hehenberger grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where she did her undergraduate work in painting and graphic design at Indiana University. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Cincinnati in 1994. Since then, she has worked as an art teacher, professional artist, and book illustrator. This painting work was inspired by universal themes and patterning in nature (ie: cell structure, nests and cocoons, subatomic particles, geology etc.) These pieces were created in multiple layers using mixtures of oil paint, and cold wax medium on wood panel.
