Jamie’s Photograms are created one at a time, by feel, in the darkroom. She does not use cameras or negatives in any way. The objects are placed directly on photographic paper, exposed to light and then the paper is developed. Since the composition of objects varies every time they are placed on the paper, every exposure creates an original piece of art that cannot be recreated exactly.
Jamie's work focuses on bold colors, natural forms and the unexpected within the creative process. Her color photograms embrace the techniques and experimentation of the 1800s and combine them with color from the modern era.
She and her husband currently live in Hillsborough, NC.
