Fields and rural buildings are innate choices for this landscape painter. Farmers and store keepers populate my family history in eastern North Carolina.
Farming grounded people in the passing seasons and weather, growing food for people and animals. The old stores buzzed with commerce in goods
and information. Water has always been in my life: the creeks and sounds around Edenton, Beaufort ocean access and the Haw River. Spending time with these subjects is a process for assimilating the steady change and disappearance of the agrarian life ways I witnessed as a child, an antidote for the Fast Farem uick Stop andZip Mart and a chance to revel in a calmer place.
